Youth Revival
June 7th - 9th
“SAPBC 2010 YOUTH REVIVAL”. The 2010 St. Andrew Primitive Baptist Church Revival took place June 7th – June 9th and was truly a blessing to all who attended. This year’s theme was “Steadfast Unmovable Youth”, coming from 1 Corinthians 15:57-58. The speaker was the anointed Pastor Troy L. Garner who blessed all with the word of God by means of expository preaching. This method proved a positive one to our youth as they demonstrated their learning in a response to the sermon each night. The blessings and teachings of this revival shall live on in the lives of all who attended. The first night was anointed by the Fellowship of Faith Baptist Church Praise Choir. These young women sang praises reminding us that we are friends of God and that no matter how we explain his grace, he’s better than we could ever imagine. Later Pastor Garner explained how to deal with sin coming from Psalm 51. He told us to “confront our flaws & confess them”. He reminded us of our sinful nature because of the fall of Adam and Eve; but he then let us know that because of Jesus’ blood we are justified of our sin and the God can cleanse us. We left this night with the hope and promise that Jesus paid the price for our sins; therefore, we do not have to. The second night, Douglas Tabernacle Youth Choir reminded us that Jesus is the light that shines within us and how great our God is.
Later, Pastor Garner taught us how to “Overcome a Grasshopper Complex”, and that all things are possible through Christ. Coming from Numbers 13:30-33, Pastor Garner told us that if God promises it to us no one, not even a giant obstacle, can take it away. He reminded us that all things are possible and that we should focus on the promise, not the situation. On the final night, St. Andrew Youth Choir sang beautiful praises reminding us to “Bless the Lord” because of “How Excellent” He is. Pastor Garner then encouraged us to have “A Passion for God”. He reminded us no matter where we make it, God is the one that brought us there and should therefore be our number one priority. We should take pleasure I praising him and know that despite our trials, God is still in charge and can handle any situation. The encouraging words from Pastor Garner along with the praises from the choirs truly revived each and every individual at the revival. There was dancing, shouting, singing, all transforming into praises to our Lord and Father. This was a revival that will carry on in the hearts and minds of every individual who attended, and will aid us in becoming “Steadfast and Unmovable Individuals”. Three youth of the church accepted Christ on this final night, Kelsey Hobbs and twin boys, Zaderian and Zaevian Toney. Later La’Donya Sutton accepted Christ along with her mother April Miller and were baptized together on June 13th. Also the mother of the twins Christal Toney came on Christian experience joining her sons. (Submitted by: Lindsey Rice)
