Afro American Gospel Choir
January 23, 2011
“Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands.” On Sunday, January 23, 2011, The University of Alabama Afro-American Gospel Choir visited and performed at St. Andrew Primitive Baptist Church in Madison, AL. The choir featured St. Andrew’s own Shenika Harris, a freshman at UA. The Gospel Choir provided musical selections throughout the morning worship service during which Pastor Michael Hartwell preached a sermon from I Timothy 6:6-12 entitled “Moving Forward and Crossing Over Part VII: Getting Your Priority Straight.” While the UA Gospel choir moved us with powerful and moving renditions of songs, including “Every day is a Day of Thanksgiving, ” Pastor Hartwell reminded us that our only priority should be to know, live for, honor, follow, and trust in the Lord. He issued us with the following challenge: Make this a year you are going to move forward and cross over. Whatever “giants,” “Red Seas,” or Jerichos” you may come across, move forward and cross over it. The UA Afro-American Gospel Choir also performed songs of praise in an afternoon service during which the SAPBC Praise Team also performed.
