Mothers, Deaconess, and Deacons Appreciation
October 31, 2010
St. Andrew PB Church where Elder Michael Hartwell is the pastor, celebrated Mothers, Deaconesses, and Deacons Appreciation, October 31, 2010. The celebration started in Sunday school, where the lesson scripture came from Psalm 63: “God’s Presence Comforts and Assures and the Youth of the church did recitals from memory of Psalm 1, Psalm 100, and books of the Bible. Elder Al Holman called appreciation celebration together with the call worship followed by the SAPB Youth Praise in Motion to music of “I can Only Imagine” and with the procession of the St Andrew church Mothers, Deacons, and Deaconesses. The appreciation theme emphasized that we must be steadfast and immovable, always abounding in good works, coming from I Corinthians 15:58 with the guest church, Little Shiloh P.B. Deacons opening worship in devotion with two soul stirring prayers. Little Shiloh Choir blessed the congregation with worship in songs such as “This little light of me and Give Him Glory! As the welcome was extended by Deacon James & Mother Flora Lewis, Sister Patricia Foster confessed her faith and desire to be baptized and to unite in fellowship with St. Andrew. After mentioning the cake he received from Mother Binford as he arrived, Elder Reginald Johnson, Pastor of Little Shiloh P.B. Church, Madison, AL brought the morning message taking his text from Isaiah 6:1-8 entitled “Here am I, Send Me”; subtopic: ‘Send Me, I’ll Go”. King Uzziah was king and he tried to take over the priest duties. If God has not called you to a certain thing, you might want to stay where you are. You need to start running in your own lane. If you don’t you going to have a collision. In the year that King Uzziah died he was king but not the King. God had to let Uzziah die so Isaiah could see who God is. You’ve got some Uzziah’s in your life. Some folks you’ve got to say bye bye, peace, see you later. Some folks can’t go where God is taking you. Isaiah saw the Lord high and lifted up. Some say Michael and Elvis was king but they are not the King. God is King of Kings. Isaiah said His train filled the temple and the seraphim cried out “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts. “ The whole earth is full of His glory! Jeremiah said its like fire shut up in my bones. It gets all over me. Sometimes I can’t help myself. My socks get happy. Isaiah was called to be a prophet of God. Isaiah said he was undone, not worthy. The seraphim touched his lips with coal and cleaned him up so he could be God’s prophet. I know that some of you were a broken down, busted, and disgusted mess. Now that God has cleaned you up, “Can He Use You in His Service?” Isaiah volunteered. What about you, deacons when it’s prayer time, choir when it’s time to sing, Mothers/Deaconess when it’s time to address young women? Do you say Here am I, send me, I’ll go? God was looking for someone and Daniel couldn’t do it, David couldn’t do it. I saw Jesus saying “Here am I, Send Me, I’ll Go”. I know you get tired sometimes and you get talked about but one moment in paradise will pay for it all. God is looking for deacons, mothers, deaconesses, trustees, Choirs, and ushers…..who are willing to go for Him and to do what He has called you to do. When God calls He might not show you everything. You got to go on faith. Mother Amanda Franklin, President of the Mother’s Board expressed appreciation to Pastor Johnson and the entire Little Shiloh Church Family for coming to encourage and bless us on this appreciation. Deacons and Deaconess presented appreciation plaques to the senior Mothers and Deacons (Mothers Amanda Franklin, Ella Binford, Hazel Patton, Eddie Mae Moore, Willie Mae Harris, Rachel Horton, Flora Lewis, Iradell Rice, Emma Caudle and Deacons James Lewis and Riley Kirby) in appreciation of their faithful service and spiritual leadership to St. Andrew P.B. Church. Pastor Johnson dismissed in prayer asking God continued blessings and comfort for Pastor Hartwell’s family during their time of bereavement.
